Membership OfferingThe AETF membership offering has changed for the 2010-2011 financial year. In light of recent developments, full membership will be free for this financial year. If your organisation would like to join the AETF, please email info@aetf.net.au or phone 02 8272 5109. Business RoundtableThe AETF Business Roundtable provides a unique opportunity for companies to discuss emissions trading issues, network with key emissions trading players, and explore emerging issues with policy makers and peers under Chatham House rules. Like the AETF itself, the Business Roundtable is an information service, not a lobby group. It is a forum in which to discuss emissions trading market and policy developments, opportunities, and implications. The first Business Roundtable was held at the ASX in late 2003 in response to business interests seeking more interactive involvement with emissions market stakeholders, as well as policy makers. Business Roundtables are now held on a quarterly basis, with the main venue alternating between Sydney and Melbourne. Simultaneous satellite Roundtables are held in the other city, providing members with a venue in which to participate and liaise with other members. Invitation to the Business Roundtable is open only to Business Roundtable members. Agenda items for Business Roundtable meetings are canvassed from members, but generally cover national and international trading developments, as well as market conditions and prospects. Senior representatives from the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change have spoken on the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme at recent Business Roundtables. In addition, ad hoc meetings are organised from time to time, to accommodate particular sectoral interests or highlight emerging issues. Business Roundtable Members have access to an electronic information network, through which they are able to share information and network with other members. This is possible via an email list or through a members-only section of the AETF website. Members can also choose to be listed in the AETF's online Business Directory. AETF ReviewThe AETF Review is a unique publication that provides commentary and analysis of national and international emissions trading developments, and is published six times per year. The AETF Review is not a news service, but rather a provider of expert analysis and insight, essential for companies and industries facing future emissions trading liabilities, as well as organisations repositioning themselves to operate in a carbon-constrained economy. From the 2009-2010 financial year, the AETF Review may be accessed through subscription only. Business Roundtable and Associate membership includes subscription to the AETF Review. Others wishing to access the AETF Review will require AETF Review membership. Previous editions of the AETF Review are still available, without charge. Board briefingsEmissions trading developments in Australia and abroad are currently in a state of flux. Uncertainty abounds, and policy and market developments are often difficult to navigate. The AETF offers high-level, tailored board briefings, pitched at Board and senior executive level, to companies facing emissions trading liabilities, as well as those organisations wishing to position themselves or restructure to accomodate a future carbon price. Briefings include a PowerPoint overview of key developments in the national emissions trading agenda, followed by follow-up question and answer session. Typically, briefings runf for an hour, and can be tailored to particular company interests. Dr Tony Beck, Chairman of the AETF, and Brett Janissen, the Executive Director, are offer their expertise through board briefings in Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney. The standard cost is $2,200, plus an agreed travel component. Ad hoc publicationsThe AETF publishes at least two special publications each year, providing commentary on and analysis of international and national emissions trading and related developments. The AETF will release an analysis of emissions trading developments (or lack thereof) stemming from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Copenhagen Conference in Denmark in December 2009. Previous publications covered developments at the annual UNFCCC Conference of the Parties, as well as developments in Kyoto related markets (including the Clean Development Mechanism), non-Kyoto markets (primarily the United States), and domestic developments (especially Australia’s proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme). Business Roundtable members receive two ad hoc publications each year, and Associate members will receive one. Such ad hoc publications are otherwise not available for sale, and are not included in AETF Review membership. Website resourcesThe AETF Knowledge Centre contains valuable emissions trading material, including reference documents that may be downloaded, as well as links to policy and legislative documents, and other material that has been published globally. Business Roundtable and Associate members may access the Knowledge Centre.Member event discountsBusiness Roundtable and Associate members are entitled to a discounted rate on certain emissions trading and carbon market events held in Australia. This includes a discount to the annual Carbon Market Expo held each year in Brisbane — the premier emissions trading event in Australia. The AETF is also able to sometimes negotiate a discounted rate for emissions trading workshops and programs hosted by third parties. International linkagesIn addition, linkages between the AETF Business Roundtable and international agencies such as Point Carbon and the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) are being fostered, and provide a valuable interface with the international emissions trading community and market networks for all AETF members. |
